Finding the Right Camping Gear
The world of camping gear can be overwhelming. Looking for your perfect camping gear can be fun but at the same time a bit time-consuming and confusing. If you would like to simplify your quest for the most useful camping gear, read on!
What is camping gear? Camping gear is what you truly need to go camping. It is essential in order for you to be comfortable and live in the outdoors.
Camping gear can be found at many retail and online stores. Look for the camping aisle and look at the camping gear every time you go into the store. After you start looking, it actually becomes fun and entertaining as you begin to notice that the camping gear inventory seems to change slightly each time you look.
Basic Camping Gear
Camping gear includes items that are really essential for camping, for example: sleeping bags, tents, camping stoves, air mattresses, grilling utensils, Propane Lantern and coolers. A vast array of smaller camping gear includes things you might not think of until you forget it at home – flashlights (have you ever had to walk all the way to the restroom at a campground in total darkness accompanied by bats and barking dogs?), lawn chairs, and maybe even that raincoat you decided you wouldn’t need because you thought it would not rain!!
As you look at the camping gear, you need to decide what’s important to you. Do you want a tent with two rooms? Are you looking for a tent made out of a specific material? How warm will your sleeping bag need to be? Will your camping gear need to include cots or air mattresses? On one camping trip, we went to sleep during a heavy rainstorm and we later woke up to 6" of water in the bottom of our tent! For us, sleeping on a Camping Cot is preferable over an air mattress because it keeps us high and dry. What type of lawn chairs do you enjoy sitting on? If it rains, do you have your waterproof sandals handy or a pair of slip-on shoes so you can get in and out of your tent or camper with ease?
Advanced Camping Gear
Driving around trying to find a campground wastes time and gas money. If you are driving to a campground that you have never visited before, a Portable GPS Navigator
unit is helpful. The unit will tell you what the shortest distance is and will map it out for you. Back before everyone carried a cell phone, we spent hours trying to find the campground we were supposed to stay at. Pretty soon it was getting dark and we were not having much fun. We could have really benefited from a GPS unit! We install our GPS unit to the dash of our vehicle and now getting to the campground is easy and fun.
A good camping list will help you decide what to purchase and pack for your camping trip.
