I’m trying to find a place in southern/eastern Iowa that my entire family can camp at! Somewhere with woods of course, hiking trails, a lake or some kind of body of water, possibly even a cabin. Does anybody have any ideas? Btw, we live near Burlington, IA, so it has to be somewhere close!
But this isn’t your average “pick a pine cone off the ground” scavenger hunt. At night, your team must go around every camp site and ASK them for these items. Usually many families are huddled around the campfire and take the list and try to get as many things for you as they can. So my question for you is, what are some items that you would put on this list?
With the price of gas this Summer my family won’t be planning any out of state road trips to visit relatives. Because we live in Washington state (3 years now) and have not been out much to enjoy it we have planned a Summer of family camping trips. My husband and I have two children (Girl 10 and Boy 6) We really want to make it a great Summer for the family! We plan to camp the Forest, Lakes and Ocean Beaches…. Any suggestion for some fun outdoor activities to bring along or do while out camping? Aside from hiking, swimming… Something entertaining we can mix with the normal camping fun.. A very large group of us (about 15-20) will be going to New Braunfels in July. We are looking for a place to tent camp (would like a cabin with A/C, but they seem to be very expensive, so apparently that’s out of the question). There will be some small children, and a couple of adults who aren’t swimmers. I was looking at the Horseshoe as maybe a good place to go tubing? Is it possible for adults who don’t swim to tube on the horseshoe? Is there a shallow area for the kids to play in the water? Is there any place where you can bring your own tube instead of renting two days in a row? Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are wanting to experience a great trip, but want EVERYONE to be able to enjoy themselves. Thanks!

I think so too bandit. One drug an 11 year old boy right out of his tent. Killed him of course. I am devistaded for his family
we are looking for something that not very developed and that doesn’t get alot of campers. Somewhere we can get a chance to see nature. anything would be helpful! Thanks

its my first time camping, and i’m nervous because its with my boyfriend and his family. can anyone give me any advice, hygienic wise or other?

I live in Boston and my buddy lives in Portland, ME. I would like to find some place within two hours of both cities to take our families camping. We prefer rustic camping and I dislike RV’s. I think the Old Orchard / southern Saco River area is too built up – too noisy and too busy. Any ideas?

I really need a new tent but I want to get one with no fire retardants.
